Under a grant agreement with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), RiverCity WRAPS is developing a Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy (WRAPS) program for the Lower Arkansas River watershed within the city limits.

  • Earth Day Kansas - Stop by and see RiverCity WRAPS from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 19, 2012 at the Sedgwick County Zoo.
  • Earth Fest 2012 - Exhibits of local green businesses will be on display from 9:30 a.m. to
    8 p.m. April 21, 2012 at the Water Center. Enjoy Earth Week Proclamations, cultural dancing, drumming, native flute music, a solar-amplified concert, and at dusk, the Phlox Fire Dancers. See 'Solar Death Ray' ignite stuff, tour the Water Center treatment plant, see solar cooking, and ride an electric bike.
  • River Trash Round-Up - Spend a Saturday morning doing something great for your city. Join RiverCity WRAPS on the river from 9 a.m. to noon on April 21, 2012. Register at the south end of the Lawrence-Dumont Stadium parking lot.

Membership is open to all Wichita and surrounding area residents, businesses and other organizations who wish have input in identifying watershed needs.   

RiverCity WRAPS meets at 5:30 p.m. every first Tuesday of the month at the WATER Center, 101 E. Pawnee in Wichita. If you are interested in joining, check out one of our three committees, including Events, Project Demonstrations and Communications.

RiverCity WRAPS Mission

The RiverCity WRAPS mission is to develop and implement water quality improvement projects in the community that restore and protect the overall health of the river’s watershed ecosystem. In addition, RiverCity WRAPS seeks to educate the public on the importance of water quality and best practices residents and local entities can participate in to help protect the river well into the future.
